| Shutdown and Startup of OpenVMS |
| Concepts |
| Any system manager must know the procedures for shutting down a system and restarting the system, both under normal circumstances and when an intervention is required to avert, end or fix a problem.
Several special boot procedures exist under the name conversational boots. This module discusses the normal procedures and then presents several of the more useful conversational boot scenarios.
System managers who know the general outline of the boot and shutdown sequences can troubleshoot problems that occur during these times more easily. Methods for generating more detailed log files provide means for students to explore their own systems.
The module also discusses the startup files a system manager can edit to tailor the sequence of startup events. |
