| OpenVMS deals with disk, CD-ROM, and tape device objects as volumes. The generic definition of a volume is a logical unit of storage. A volume is a logical unit because a logical definition governs data storage to the physical medium.
For the operating system to see the volume, it must be mounted with the DCL MOUNT command. |
