Networking for HP-UX System Administrators
This course prepares HP-UX system administrators to manage Unix networks. Beginning with a discussion of LAN concepts, students quickly move to hands-on network configuration, using network commands, ARPA/Berkeley services, setting up DNS servers and configuring NFS.

A thorough overview of NTP, BootP and TFTP is presented along with an overview of configuring NIS. Software distribution over networks is presented in the module on SD-UX. The course concludes with an overview of CIFS.

Who Should Attend
Experienced system administrators responsible for networking HP-UX systems.

Prerequisites
Introduction to UNIX and HP-UX System Administration courses or equivalent training and experience.

Features of this Course
  • A straightforward introduction to networking on HP-UX for students responsible for managing Unix networks or preparing for the HP-UX certification exam.
  • Lab exercises reinforce lecture concepts by giving hands-on experience.

Benefits of Attending this Class

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Understand subnet masking
  • Test connectivity and network configuration using networking commands.
  • Set up primary and secondary DNS servers
  • Implement host name mapping using BIND, NIS, or /etc/hosts
  • Configure NFS with standardmounted and automounted directories
  • Troubleshoot common network connectivity problems
